lack of practice and the fact that I ripped the crotch in my Santa suit.

Event comments:

This was really my first race in a few years. I didn't train as I wish I would have, so I ended up needing to walk a good amount. Maybe for the next race I will do better!

That has got to be one hot run after the first 1/4 mile.  I ran in a cow suit once after my one of my kids riding a hayride through the neighborhood trick or treating. Ugly sight, utters flying, I spilled my beer and was pouring buckets of sweat!  (Good thing these things are all for the kids?!)

Awesome first race report!  13:53 is not back for a crotchless Santa in Las Vegas ...

Seriously, continue training and logging in some base miles ... you'll come close to halving your time in no time (Santa suit or not!)

A cow suit? That is awesome! I would definitely do that. Was that in Atlanta? I live in Phoenix now, but lived the past 12 years in the Marietta, Smyrna, Hiram, back to Marietta and Austell metroplex.

I have signed up for two 5Ks in January here in Phoenix. No suits though. I figure for a guy 270 pounds and no exercise, just finishing that Santa race ahead of heart attack and death is an achievement!
