Comments: Forgot to pick up my goggles from the pool here in town so had to borrow a pair and they leaked the whole time, had to stop frequently to drain them. My feet were so cold when I got in the water they started to defrost and that HURT!!! My arms for some reason were tired (tension on the bike?) and so it was not my best swim (8:32 last week at the 1 hour postal swim when I was intent on not rushing so that I could last an hour) What would you do differently?: remember my own goggles! stretch my arms when coming in off the bike. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: this is too confusing! So T1 is coming off the run, getting on the bike... The ground was wet and icey and I didn't want to freeze my feet or behind so I didn't sit down and I took my sneakers off one at a time and put on my bike shoes. What would you do differently?: Bring something to sit/stand on. Going to try the stretch laces so that the sneakers come off/on easier. ![]() Bike
Comments: Was VERY worried about the ice and snow on the road with my road bike tires, but they did fine on the ice and the winds were the worst part of the snow. I need more hours on the bike, this is now the weakest part of my race. I know I will always be a slow running and that is ok but this bike thing needs to improve! What would you do differently?: Train more on hills! I loose so much momentum and get down to 60rpms in a very low gear! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: okay so T2 is bike to swim. Ran into the building in my bike shoes as I didn't want to run through the ice and mud in my socks. Got to my chair and just pulled everything off (broke the string on my running tights!) My cap went on very easily thanks to the corn starch! and if it wasn't for the borrowed goggles not fitting right I would have had a great transition. What would you do differently?: not much, went pretty smooth ![]() Run
Comments: Did okay! My fastest miles to date! Heart rate was a tad bit too high (185 at times, my goal now is to keep it below 184) but since the run was so short I ignored it. Used hand warmers in my gloves and loved that!!! What would you do differently?: not much, just keep training and trying to cut down the mile time and lower the heart rate. ![]() Post race
Warm down: stretched, hot tub, shower, banana, gatorade What limited your ability to perform faster: very cold weather! 28 degrees, ice and snow, we are crazy!! Event comments: Should have had more food and drink in a more obvoius place but otherwise they did a nice job in very arduous conditions. And as they gave awards 3 deep in each age group I got my first award for a race where I wasn't the only one in my age group!! WooHoo!!!! Last updated: 2006-02-06 12:00 AM

4r1/44U?ank is just the women, I am 38/50 for the whole race.
Also, this race is backwards, run/bike/swim to prevent triathlete popsicles so T1 is run to bike and T2 is bike to swim...
Got up at 4:30, had a normal breakfast, which turned out to not be enough food by the time the race started I was hungry! I did have a coffee for the first time before a race and that worked fine.
Lots of stretching, jog around the parking lot to stretch out achilles which is still a mess.
