Was just reading a consumer reports article that said that protein powders were found to have high amounts of metals in them and are not all they are cracked up to be. Anyone know anymore about this argument? If you abide by that, what do you use for recovery?
It's possible for low quality protein powders to have heavy metals in them. Generally the amounts are low, but with how much powder the average person uses it can add up.
The best thing you can do is to use supplements or powders that have voluntary 3rd party testing done to ensure that the products are pure. It adds very little cost to the product, but is very worth it.
Another great idea is to eat 'real' food for recovery. Powders of any sort (or packaged drinks, etc) are merely for convenience and are far from necessary.
