Pre-race routine:

Cliff Bar. Got to the race late...
Event warmup:

Nothing special.
Swim
  • 15m 50s
  • 1093 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pleased with swim time. Only real problem was I swam directly into the sun and got a bit off course on the first loop...also had a hard time finding the bouy on the way out. I was way in front of the pack..lot's of smooth water. Nice.
What would you do differently?:

Hmm...not much. Maybe take it out faster and try to find the bouy as I begin the swim, not during it.
Transition 1
  • 04m 5s
Comments:

had issues with getting on my helmet. Got my shoes and socks on good...but at the last minute I decided to toss on a shirt...and it got stuck on my helmet. sheesh.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 45s
  • 25 miles
  • 17.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Monster hills. I biked slower at this tri than I did at Kalamazoo. I flew down one hill going 37mph...I had to climb it on the way back...and it took all I had not to hop off my bike and walk it.
What would you do differently?:

Hope that I get faster at some point...please, for the love of god. It is so frustrating/ demoralizing being fast in the water and slow on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Run
  • 43m 8s
  • 5 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a honey packet and some gatorade after getting off the bike...didn't sit well at all. Felt like I was going to vomit for most of the run. I could have gone much faster, but it took all the determination I had to run the pace I did without "losing it".
What would you do differently?:

maybe try to eat something during the race? Stop using honey and go back to gu? hmm...
Post race
Warm down:

collapsed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

errr...my tummy.

Event comments:

They could have had more volunteers...had a great variety of snacks and drinks, plus a raffle. I had a good time and all, but I was definitely spoiled by the greatness of the Seahorse Challenge two weeks back.

I'm in awe of your swim time! Whoa! Great race overall. Don't worry about the bike, sounds like the hills were very challenging. Great race.
