Just got a new Mac for the house and I really want to get my photos in order. It appears that I can manage them in iPhoto, edit them externally, but I can't find where the edited pictures go! I really like some of the features in iPhoto and would like to use it for it's simplicity, but it seems they are locked down in the iPhoto library. Is there a setting to unlock this? I'm thinking of using Lr for management and editing between it and Ps. Is this feasible? Would Bridge be better than Lr for file management? I know I can't use both iPhoto and Br/Lr because it requires duplicating files which would really fill a hard drive quickly. Any tips, workarounds or ideas from users out there?

It's in

/Users/(username)/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary

You cannot see it through Finder but if you go there via the terminal you can see them.

If you use a program such as Gimp
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

you can manipulate them as you wish and keep them within the iPhoto library.
