Subject: RE: 09.24.2019 Tripping up Tuesday 5:45 AM - 5k recovery run. I am not sure if I should have stuck with the 45' recovery trainer ride for this morning. I crushed four Sprint Tri's this year which was my main focus. Now I have a Marathon in two weeks which was trained for as a 'B Race' using the triathlon cross-training as the base of the plan with some modifications for the Marathon to follow. I think I should stick with the bike and swim cross-training for the next two weeks since that is what I have been doing for the past 4 months, but this morning I flopped and stuck with running since there is no swimming or cycling in any races for the rest of the year. If I went to a run only plan it would have to run 58 miles to hit me Peak TSS or 38 miles to hit my average TSS. My actually running miles hit a peak of 38 miles and my actually average running miles was 23 miles. This averages would make most of the marathon community cring, but I regularly put log bike rides into the plan to build aerobic endurance and my total workout hours a week were more than most of the marathon community would dream of. Racing 3 times in 5 weeks threw off the peak weeks and taper weeks for the Marathon but I think had have prepared the best I could. I have raced better at running events in the past 5 years as a triathlete that I did as a pure runner before that so it will be interesting to see how this Marathon compares with the two I did 10 years ago when I was running 40-55 miles a week rather than doing similar TSS through triathlon training. |
