Comments: Chop was coming right at us on the way out. I tried a few different things with stroke and breathing, but there was just not much to do. I struggled to draft because I was just trying to survive the rough waters. Told myself to just get to the buoy and things would improve. It was still a little annoying on the back side, but much better. And once we turned for the home stretch, it was smooth sailing. Watch measured the course short, but who knows. What would you do differently?: Not much, haven't dealt with that kind of turbulence in a while, and given my tough time training this year, I'll take it. Transition 1
Comments: Love that they had wetsuit strippers for us! Pretty clean T1 overall. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I was most excited about this coming in, and holy cow did I exceed expectations. Knew I was in the best cycling fit of my life, and showed it here. NP was 223, honestly on the low end of the range I aimed for. Stayed in aero for almost the entire ride outside of turns. Hit my nutrition plan perfectly. So so happy with this. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Just wish the course was 56 miles so I could claim a PR here. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time here, cleaned my feet off, got my socks on. Even took the time to pee in the porta. What would you do differently?: Wasn't really trying to go fast here, mission accomplished on the bike, just trying to make for a comfortable run. Run
Comments: Plan here was to do at least the first half around goal IM pace, but I just couldn’t force myself to chill. Between my legs wanting to go, and the race environment, I ended up cruising along in some in between zone. After mile 8, I just let it rip. Ran down some guys down the stretch. A bit concerning that I had another big pee at mile 3. Seems like I took enough salt on the bike... will have to review that. What would you do differently?: Nothing I suppose. Post race
Warm down: Went for a 15 min easy jog before getting some food and waiting for Kira to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Goal here wasn't to go all out, so not gonna really concern myself with this. Just an incredible result though. Can't wait to see what I can do in 5 weeks at IMLP! Event comments: Really glad I decided to do this race. Just wish it was the full 70.3 because this would've been a HUGE PR! But the course was really fun, and the post race food was great. Well managed event overall. Last updated: 2024-06-17 12:00 AM

Pancakes, cherries, and Propel at the hotel. Packed up, got picked up, and off to the venue. Set got the race wheels on, check them, and set up transition, before heading to the race start. Water was looking a little choppy... but overall the weather was looking really good for the day.
Short spin on the bike to make sure put the wheels on correctly. All systems go.
