Run
Comments: I decided to take it really easy this run and run with friends. Managed this until mile 6 and then decided to take off. My pride could not handle getting kicked by a bunch of 60 year olds. Kicked up the speed pretty good in the last 4, and actually had a pretty good time passing a whole whack of people. Still, 154th place is pretty embarassing. What would you do differently?: Run on my own pace and make friends along the way. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit.. had some powerade and oranges. Got a calf massage, and buddy asked me how I ran 10 miles with bricks in my calfs. Bugger! What limited your ability to perform faster: Running the first 6 miles with friends instead of going at my own pace. Event comments: Water stations were poorly manned at the start, no water for the first couple. They were every 2 miles, but it's a hot course and it wouldn't have hurt to have a few more in there. Nice day for a run, good shade and breeze until about mile 8 or so. All things considered, I had a lot of fun, and was able to be functional for the rest of the day afterwards. Not much of a routine. Got out of bed, grabbed a quick shower and jumped into the car to Winnipeg Beach. Not used to the early morning run anymore.
About 1/2 a mile slow jog and lots of stretching.
