Swim
Comments: A great swim for me. faster then my pool pace. No touble at the start as in previous races. Let others run, I walked in and my breathing was perfect from the start. What would you do differently?: not a thing Transition 1
Comments: had to walk a bit of 1/4 mile up hill. This is where I knew iwasn't at 100% strength. ( i had been sick all week). Had trouble pulling new, tight bike shirt down. What would you do differently?: Will get a tri top and wear it in the water. Bike
Comments: pleasantly surprised that i finshed under 1:30 given how difficult the finish was. Need to improve my training time average of 16 mph. But satisfied that is what i averaged here since i didn't feel well. What would you do differently?: work on my speed! Transition 2
Comments: Guess I could practice the first two but don't feel like i lost much time there. What would you do differently?: see above Run
Comments: I was out of energy due to illness; had to walk up most hills. but finished w/ a sprint! What would you do differently?: not be sick goin in! Post race
Warm down: nothing really What limited your ability to perform faster: illness prior to the race. Event comments: Not sure if they could make the finish of the bike course a little less difficult. The last uphill almost seemd unfair. Nontheless, a challenging course. Must add the lake is very very clean, made for a great swim. Overall organized well. plan to do it again (in under 3 hours! Bowl of Kashi Go Lean, Banana, Peanut Butter, Vitamin Water 2 hrs b4 race
Had planned to eat a bfast bar 1/2 hour b4 but my stomach was doing flips so I decided not to.
There was 1/4 mi between the beach and T1. 1/2 way down to the beach I realized I didn't unpack my helmet. so my warm-up was a sprint to the car, to T1 and back to the beach. actually had a few more minutes and since i was sweating i tokk a quick swim. Getting my face in the water REALLY seemd to calm me down. Waded calmly. Highly recommend it and will do it all future races where permitted.
