Subject: How many apples in a cup?
I just decided to make a last minute apple pie for tomorrow.  The recipe I found says 8 cups of sliced apples.  How many apples will I need to buy?  Does one apple even make a cup of slices?  Hmmm....

No idea.  Depends on how small you cut them.

Keep cutting apples till you have 8 cups...I guess.  Have FUN!!

That's a very strange measurement unit.... a CUP of apple.  Just get 6 or 8 apples.  If not enough, make a smaller pie, or fill up with canned sliced pear/peach to make a "mixed fruit pie".  If too many, you can alway eat it.

Yeah, a decent sized apple should give you about a cup when sliced or chopped up.  I'd snag a couple extra one just in case they're on the small side.

Yeah, I guessed about a cup per apple if they're big.  I didn't know if there was a baker out there who would know off the to of their head!  Thank you!

It all depends...

On the size of the apples, and the size of the cup.

(running like hell now

So you'd need to double the recipe based on your cup size??

Depends on the size of the apples. Odd that they didn't specify the number, most recipes I see do.

3 medium-sized apples = 1 lb
Most apple pies take about 2 lbs of apples, so I would say between 5-8.

OK, perverts, get out of the kitchen.

What if the cup is shaped like a tesseract, smart guy?

Wouldn't be a cup for measuring then, now would it?

And I would say that you could probably determine that by determining what the area of the hypercube is. Good luck with that one.

Does that one require a HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY COOKBOOK???

Possibly. Although, I used to have a recipe for the Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster in one of my bartending books.

I think through all this, we've determined we have no clue how many apples are need to get eight cups of sliced apples.

It's about 6-8.
Beyond that, we've also determined that there are a bunch of people on BT right now that have nothing better to do than debate the merits of using four-dimensional geometric shapes for said measurement.

God, we're bored.

I'd say 1.5 small apples or one nice big one=a cup.

And with a whole big buttload of bandwidth.

That would seem a personal pleasure problem what you have a buttload of.
