Subject: RE: Ghoulies Are Turkey Trottin' Through NovemberOkay, the race on Sunday morning was quite eventful for me. I started out great with running 3 minutes and walking 1 minute. At about 20 minutes into the race my phone starts ringing. First I ignore the phone. But the caller keeps calling back. Mind you, my phone is on my arm, under my jacket. So the next time the phone rings, I madly get my arm out of the jacket. The phone stops ringing, and the person does not leave a voice mail. I do not have my reading glasses on, imagine that, not wearing reading glasses while running. Anyway, I can't see who called. After doing this a couple of times, I finally get connected with my daughter. It turns out that my soon to be 3 year old grandson managed to find my medication and ate one of the pills. OMG!!! Now I'm in a panic trying to remember what pill it was that he could have taken. I thought it was a particular pill, but I could not be sure. So I tell her to take the rest of the pills to the emergency room with her and maybe they can tell which one it was since it was in a 7 day pill pack and there was one more day left. Then I called my neighbor to get into my house and find my pill bottles for me to make sure. I had guess right as to which one it might have been. So I called that back to my daughter and she told the Dr. which is might have been. All is okay, They gave him a chocolate carcoal drink to absorb the meds and observed him for 4 hours to make sure he was okay. Meanwhile, I saw my son in law on the switch back on the race and told him so that when he got done he could go and get his phone out of the truck and call his wife. So, when we get home and pick up the older kids from the hospital, my daughter gave him the pill pack, and I looked to see what was missing. It turned out that he had eaten the "apple vinegar pill" which would have tasted awful, but was not going to harm him in any way. So all ended up good. My run time though became really bad, because I managed to walk through two miles of the race dealing with phone calls and could not run. But that does not matter in the long run. My grandson being okay was what was important. |
