Pro 6838 Tejas | Subject: Ousting Pelosi I've seen stories in recent days calling for Nan's head and am not sure I understand why. She's running the playbook and platform per the DNC orders to the letter. She stands in lockstep defiance with DNC policy even when that policy is proven 'defective' or untrue. She's such a team player that I picture her having a donkey tramp stamp on her azz. Seems to me that replacing the mouthpiece changes nothing. They sacked greasy Deb Wassermann, but that changed nothing. They need to change the platform, then change the mouthpieces IMO. They need to face the facts. The platform of blame and misinformation has finally bitten them on the azz. The country has grown tired of the finger pointing and smoke screens used to mask failures of democrat legislation. They can get rid of nancy p. but the problem will still be there. Another smoke screen being used, when the smokescreen is what the people are tired of. The DNC could literally march out with Nan's head on a pike and it still won't fix their problems. By all means though, keep running the same game. It guarantees another stinging loss at mid terms. Opinions? Edited by mdg2003 2017-06-22 8:33 AM |

Opinions? First off, I resent the image of the tramp stamp on NP's azz. I did not need that imagery in my head! The fact that the DNC sees the election losses as a leadership problem and not as ideology problem tells me they are sill in denial. The top brass in the party will continue to drive the bus to the left and when they crash into the canyon below they will still be blaming the messengers and not the message. That said, NP should be fired! And barred from doing TV interviews! The democrats brand is in serious trouble. They need to put young, articulate, energetic people out front. Republican Speaker of the House is a 47 yo guy would does a P90X workout every day. To the gen x, she is grandma. To millennial she is great-grandma. No only is NP 77 years old, she has never been articulate and make a complete fool of her self pretty much whenever she speaks on camera. |

Meh.....enjoy the ride, it all ends in a fiery crash anyway. For now, it's worth the laughs every day. Fiery crash? As in riots in the streets, maltov cocktails and Marshall law? Or maybe a little less dramatic. 1. Trumps deregulation and economic policies result in a booming economy with jobs growth, wage growth, zero unemployment, etc and dems lose even more seats in both houses of Congress 2. Nothing gets done legistlatively. Heath care implodes, the economy tanks, we end up in a way with Syria, NK, Iran and Russia and trade war with China, etc and GOP loses both house and nothing gets done the next two years either. Or maybe something less draconian......life goes on....my son graduates law school and passes the bar.....I retire and sit out on the lake all day fishing and swimming and drinking beers...... |

We're headed to the lake tomorrow also! IDK if Trump will fundamentally change the direction of this country.....but I think we need to fundamentally change the direction of this country. Seems to me that while the media has been so focused on Trump/Russia they have ignored all regulations he has done away with and the economic impact that is having. The economy seems to love Trump and in the final analysis, people vote selfishly how they are doing financially! "Maybe we did not stop global warming but I had enough money in my checking account to take the kids to Disney this year!" |

Nobody seems to be interested in logic, reason or pathos online; seems it's a contest to be the most vile. It's tiresome. I'm tired of it. I want nothing to do with it. I prefer to call it debating not fighting. Sometimes my wife will disengage on a discussion because she knows I enjoy debating.....she does not. I have enjoyed the drama of this presidency as I have learned a lot. I think most of us here avoid the name calling and over the top bs. Anyway, I always enjoyed reading your posts. |

At that time, we privately messaged and were able to communicate our differences amicably and respectfully, I think he would agree. I feel no malice towards him. When I wrote my reply, I was thinking of the cesspool that is twitter, I don't even know what to call the theatrics on facebook, the phony websites meant to confuse and spread disinformation, and the inane and corrupting infotainment that pretends to offer anything of value. The tribalism that seems to have gripped this country. That is what I find wearying and soul crushing. Not BT or its denizens. I'm no longer interested in intellectual jousting, if you will. I prefer to look for ways in which we are alike, our common bonds. If we go looking for our differences, we will surely find them. But so what? We all love our dogs. We all want what's best for our family. We're trying to figure things out. I have limited attention span; I prefer to focus it on our shared humanity. I think that's a better use of my idle time, if/when I spend it online. On a sidenote: It's been 12 years since I first joined BT. Look at the "social media" landscape that popped up since then. The difference between BT and something like twitter is like the difference between community and a gaggle of nutjobs on a street corner screaming at each other. BT's community is depopulated while twitter grows. I appreciate BT for what it was, but nothing is permanent. Edited by Renee 2017-06-26 11:03 AM |

That is actually an excellent commentary on social media and where it has brought us.....stay tuned, this will get much worse, just wait. The way that happens is that the "gaggle of nutjobs...screaming at each" will soon enough leave twitter and come to a street corner near you. These "nutjobs" now see their rants and misinformation as mainstream......and it's coming to Main Street soon enough. One of the great things about my job is that it affords me the ability to watch and hear people and their viewpoints on a larger scale then most people ever get to. I knew that people were getting fed up with the protests and non-stop barrage of political correctness in a way most people didn't....I heard in non-stop......and "warned" that Trump was a very real possibility while most people laughed it off. Soon enough the lid is going to blow off the sewer and there's going to be a chit ton of rats to deal with. Edited by Left Brain 2017-06-26 12:07 PM |

BT's community is depopulated while twitter grows. I appreciate BT for what it was, but nothing is permanent. You make a great point about how times have changed over the last 10 years or so. There were a couple of thread on COJ prime that tried to figure out 'what happened to BT'. A lot of good post-mortem analysis but I think you may have just nailed it. Facebook and Twitter! We all only have or allow a certain amount of goof off time....be that watching "Friends" on TV or watching ball games or lounging by the pool trying to see what cartoon characters we can find in the clouds. For me, FB is how I keep up with fiends (real friends) and family. I have cousins and in-laws and nieces and nephews on FB I enjoy seeing what they are up to....how many fish they caught, how big their tomatoes are....seeing pictures of their time at the beach and what other HS classmates of mine also put on some weight and has grey hair no hair. So maybe BT's off-topic forum just filled a hitch and was simply overcome with social media. I know there were some wicked fights on BT....and numerous threads and numerous threads got pulled....and people got banned. Thinking back on it I just SMH. You are absolutely right about common bonds. I think we all want clean air and strong economy and freedom and health care and opportunity. This forum provides an outlet to discuss current politics. I have been surprised at how much the left and right actually can agree on! |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: Ousting Pelosi Originally posted by dmiller5 i'm not friends with raging misogynists In my (slightly) warped mind, "raging misogynist" sounds like an oxymoron. ;-) I think misogynist is an overused and abused term. If I don't think men and women are equal I am labeled a misogynist. But men and women are not equal. In fact they are no where close to being equal! We think differently, we communicate differently, we are emotionally different and physically different. Nothing wrong with differences! Diversity makes us stronger. Not everyone wants to work two weeks on/off on an off shore oil derrick and not everyone can deal with twenty 6 yo kids. Because men and women are different, most people behave differently around men than around women. It's human nature. This cracks me up: "In most cases, misogynists do not even know that they hate women." https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-mysteries-love/201502/12-wa... Anyway, I love women! Big little or short or tall...wish I could keep them all. You won't find any Rogillio women walking three steps behind looking at the ground. |
