I realize its still 5 days out from landfall, but if your in Galveston, its not looking too good.  Looks like Texasman might be a little wet this weekend.

We live about 35 miles north of Galveston and are keeping a close eye on Ike.  Hubby is keeping a relaxed tone, I am sure to keep me from getting too flipped out but I am making lists and checking on all our stocks today.  We'll see what happens in the next couple of days before major decisions get made.

Yes, please rain at Texasman. I had my best Oly distance race ever at Disco when it was raining and cloudy.

If it was Disco this year, we did get a few sprinkles and the cloud cover was nice.  Looking at the expended forecast I think it may be a little wetter and a lot windier

SWEEEET!  I'll have a bona fide excuse for crappy performance rather than "I didn't train hard enough."

Tim, something tells me that this volume of rain, along with the winds will make it less than spectacular

It will be interesting to see what happens.  With the forecast path of Ike, it seems to me we are likely to see some nasty weather.  However, according to Accuweather, Sunday will be sunny and 90 degrees.  Weather.com says high of 82 and 30% chance of rain.  Heh...it's anybody's guess at this point.

Rain I can deal with but wind always sucks.

Everyone knows a weatherman (woman) is the best possible job to have; you get to be wrong 80% of the time and still keep your job.

Yikes; if that is accurate, we will likely have lots of rain and I'm guessing 30+ mph winds.  Looks like Sunday could be very interesting....

Or a great day to sleep in.  I do this for fun and racing in tropical storm rain and winds is not fun to me.

Let's make a deal right now; if it gets rained out (officially or by our choice) we will still meet at Ihop for an early breakfast; that way we still get to hang out for a bit.

Well, so much for the TX Tough bike rally. It's not like I wanted to do a tune up for the Longhorn bike portion or anything.

Sorry guys....I believe I'm the cause of this. I haven't washed the trucks since May. Broke down this weekend and did both of them. The day I do it, Ike turns and heads toward Texas.

Sincerest apologies.

Hmmm...not sure of the scale of this, but it may be possible that we can actually stay one step ahead of Ike on Sunday morning.

In Mandatory Evacuation right now in my area(along the Galveston bay).

Don't they know this is going to hurt my training? wtf.

We missed the mandatory evac order, we are zone c and they evacuated a and b.  Our house is on the west side of I45 so they think we are out of the surge zone from the bay.  We are boarding up and prepping the house as I type this.  We should have everything battened down by night fall.  Evacuation for us is still a big question mark but we are ready if we need to go.

For all of you in the Houston/Galveston area, be safe!!

Hope all goes well for the race Sunday if it is still on.  I unfortunately will probably not be able to train this weekend regardless of weather.  Wife is being inducted on Friday morning so we will probably be at the hospital until Sunday and then home with a crying baby.  Good times.
