kproudfoot - 2008-09-11 1:15 PM Hope all goes well for the race Sunday if it is still on.  I unfortunately will probably not be able to train this weekend regardless of weather.  Wife is being inducted on Friday morning so we will probably be at the hospital until Sunday and then home with a crying baby.  Good times.

I hope you mean "induced".    Unless she's had so many procedures that they now treat her as a surgical hall of famer.

Congrats!! That will be awesome.  We wish you the best. (So, gonna be at the pool Friday morning.  )

And just so this post is slightly on-topic.... another thread reported that TexasMan is OFF.

And, ironically enough, Ike's track was pushed even further east with the latest update.  By tomorrow, they'll be saying it isn't coming to north Texas at all.

I just left Galveston 3 hours ago taking my Dad off the west end of the Island. Not a great way to spend the day.
News here in Houston is not too bright and cheery for the outcome of this storm.
I live off Lake Houston and we are a bit nervous to be honest.

Hope everyone is safe at the end of the weekend and the DFW folks get thier race in.

The fiance and I were supposed to go to Lake Texoma this weekend to go camping. I am pretty sure we're not going now, hehe.

Though a bit frightening, we made it through Ike without much damage.  Our fence is down in the back and we got some rain in the attic but overall we made it through alright.  We lost power around 1 am but we are back on as of 1 pm.  Galveston is a wreck as well as Surfside, Freeport, Clearlake, San Leon, Bacliff and others.  Lots of water and debris.  Our street is full of tree debris but overall not too bad.

I hope all others in this area faired as well.  Take care.

We had three trees come down near our home.  Thankfully nothing HIT our home.  In fact, we still have all of our shingles in place!!

The most damage we had was our outside electric meter.  It got ripped off our exterior wall during the first set of winds that came through.  I went out in the pouring rain and fixed it as much as I could, covering a HUGE hole that exposed our kitchen drywall.  Thankfully our landlord sent someone out on Sunday morning to get it back up and ready for when the electric company comes by to restore power.

As for triathlons, the Rose City Triathlon (Tyler, TX) was supposed to be this past Saturday, but they postponed it for one week.  I'm still planning on being there and having a good time.

We did not have much damage to our house. Some sheet rock got wet in our kitchen and we had several tree limbs in our yard. We faired much better than most of our neighbors. I haven't been able to train for the Hi-Fi. I am not sure it is going to be on or not. I am glad to hear everyone is ok from this storm.
