I'll be there again this week. No water shoes needed, its a pretty nice sandy beach, and the water temperature has come up a lot. It's a few km west of Kingsville, take McCain Road to Lake Erie.

I'm working afternoons for the next two weeks, so I'll have to pass -although I hope to get in on this at some point.

Yesterday morning I was out at Island Lake Recreation Area in Brighton Michigan. It was my first time there and I definitely plan to go back. We did an open water swim, but it was the biking and running were I got the best training in. The hills are great in the park and for anyone doing Muskoka or other hilly races, this is a great place to check out.

I'll second a vote for Island Lake Park.  We have a BBQ/Temperament test there every year. (Doberman - WAE)  It's a GORGEOUS park!!!

How many minutes from the bridge to the park? I need hills, so I'll come if anyone else wants to go.

No ride after last week's swim, but Dave, Jeff, and I had talked about riding this week. No one has made an official call on the plan though.

I am hoping to come, but am looking iffy now because I have a physio appointment in LaSalle at 6:30. Actually, as I type that out, I realize it's more than iffy - it's an impossibility. I am officially out. Anyone want to OWS on Sunday too??

Comber is probably the quickest way. The easiest would be to take the highway 77 exit off the 401 and drive into Leamington. Turn right at the last lights before the lake and drive county road 20 to Kingsville. Drive through Kingsville and take the first left, which is McCain road. Drive south to the lake and Cedar Creek Beach is right where the road hits the lake and turns west (just over the bridge).

Freshjive - 2009-05-22 8:28 AM Are we riding after?

I did a ride last night so I don't really need a ride tonight, but I'd join you for something short. Also I'm doing a short run with my daughter after work. She is trying to decide if she wants to do the Kids of Steel race in Leamington.

I was going to try and reach Jim to see if he would like to join us for the swim. Do you know the best way to reach him?

I'm thinking about taking the scissors to my wetsuit tonight. The leg holes are much smaller than my old wetsuit, which makes for a nice warm swim as hardly any water gets in, but it is a struggle to get off. I used to be able to step out of my old QR, but with the new one I'm sitting on the ground struggling with it. I have heard from several people who cut a couple of inches off the bottom so your feet slip out easier, but I'm worried about securing the seam once I cut it.

I saw Jim last night at masters, I told him about the swim tonight, but he seems hesitant. As for the ride, where do you put your bike when you swim and your wetsuit when you ride?
before you cut the suit, have you tried putting body glide on your ankles and cavs?

I leave the bike inside my locked car during the swim, and the wetsuit inside the locked car during the bike. I can also chain bikes to the bike rack.

Body Glide helps but there is a big difference between the size of the hole in the legs for my new and old wetsuits. I used to be able to jerk the wetsuit down to mid thigh; step on it with one leg and jerk the other leg out with one quick step up; then repeat with the second leg. Now I'm scrabbling around on the ground on the verge of getting a calf cramp.

Matt, I will have my mini van.  You can put your bike in there while we swim.  Maybe you can fold your wetsuit in a back pack for the ride?  I love the fact that there are change rooms their and a spot to wash the sand off your feet.

As for biking, I biked last night and have a bike planned for tomorrow - so I will pass this time.

Dave, I am going to bring both kids tonigt as they wanted to see how their sushi garden was doing  Tongue out.
