Hello to all!

On July 12th, i competed in my first ever sprint triathlon. My finishing time was 1:00:39, which was good enough for 31/280 and 6th in my AG. I had a great swim that day and a great ride, but halfway through the run my body said enough was enough and up came the liquid in my stomach. Needless to say, that slowed me down and i simply tried to hold on and finish up my first ever triathlon!

Today, was my second sprint triathlon, and i must have done everything right b/c not only did i fulfill my goal of breaking 1hr, but i smashed it, finishing in 54:33. Good enough for 8th overall and 3rd in my AG (20-24). The swim was slower by about a minute @ 7:47. My bike was faster, up about 1/2mph to 22.1 (although my comp on the bike red 23.4...idk). It all came down to the run. My first tri it took me 23 minutes and that does sit to well with a running! Today, i ran an 18:12 5k to put the icing on the cake!

I am so thrilled of my result, considering this is only my second tri ever and i've only been training for 7 months...i cant wait to do another tri this season and then have the next 8-9 months to really put a big foundation down!

HAHA im hooked!

Your bike computer is probably correct, on the speed. What distance did the computer read versus what distance did the race director say the race was?

I find that often race distances claimed by the director do not come close to what my Garmin and bike say. And the Garmin and the bike are often within .01 miles of each other.

Yes I may not take the shortest route, but when the race says 12 miles and Garmin measures 15 miles, the run says 5k but the Garmin reads 3.7, something is wrong. I don't go that far off course.

And open water swim distances are simply a guess by the race director most of the time.
