Im trying to pick a 70.3 for next year, as it will be my first. Im trying to decide whether it be Rhode Island or New Hampshire. any thoughts on which one was a better experience.

I have done plenty olympic tri's and would like to make the bridge to 70.3

I haven't done both but know that the race director for Timberman is one of the best in New England and would choose to do one of his races anywhere as I know he puts on top notch races.

If I was choosing I'd pick Timberman for sure as it is a well established well run race. Read race reports from both and you'll see a big difference.

I live close to RI so I could sleep at home and do the race so for me that might effect my decision as it would be quite a bit cheaper overall.

I am considering both as well. I will probably end up at RI, just because it is closer to home. I can drive up the night before get stuff ready, even stay at a friends nearby if I want and then quick drive down in the morning.

I did both this year and I would take Timberman hands down.
Reasons:
-Much better pro field at Tiberman and a lot of opportunities to meet some world class athletes. I got to hang out and talk with Chrissy Wellington after the race. Also got to meet team Hoyt at Tibmerman.
-Tiberman course is much more shadied and scenic that Rhode Island. The shade on the run was a big deal.
-Timberman has a sprint, kids tris, expo, pre race carbo load dinner, and clam/lobster/steak dinner afterwards.
-Rhode Island is a point to point which means T1 is 56 miles away from T2 which makes the day before logistics very hectic. Timberman there is only one transitions and the beach is a few miles down the road from the expo. Also parking is free at Timberman, nothing was free in Providence.
-Rhode Island check in I waited in line for almost 90 minutes, and Timberman no line no wait.
-Do you like a hilly bike (Marsh Hill Monster at Tiberman) or a hilly run (two trips up the X-games street luge hill at Rhode Island)
-Both swims were good. The lake in NH was the cleanest lake I have ever swam in, but the beach in Rhode Island was pretty nice as well.
-Odds of heat and humidity in Providence in July are higher than NH in August.
