Subject: Liquid Fuel

I've been reading a few posts about what people eat during a tri and I've seen some folks mention that one should try to take in fuel in the form of liquid. I completely understand that it is a lot easier to drink your meal while on the go rather than try to chew something and swallow. What isn't clear to me is what exactly is liquid fuel? Am I, for example, to take a power bar, liquify it in a blender and then dilute it even more in my water bottle?

The way I am planning things out, I intend to fuel up only during the bike portion. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the term "liquid fuel" refers to something such as Infinit, Accelerade, Cytomax, Heed, Perpetum, or any other products similar to those. As for taking a Powerbar and liquifying it in a blender...I just have one word for that...YUCK!!!

I figured "liquid fuel" meant something along those lines, but I wanted to make sure. The prospect of having to blend food was not something I was looking forward to.

Thanks very much

I just finish my first HIM and only ate 2 gu's and 2 bags of sports beans. That was all of the solids I could take. My liquid fuel came in the form of Infinit, my areo bottle, and the two on the bike was all that I needed. when I ran out I had water. The Infinit was all I needed and I am a pretty big guy. And the best part of Infinit is that its costum made and you can dail it up or down as you see fit. At the end of the race I wasnt even hungry for food, but ate anyway. Your best bet is to research and practice before you do anything on race day.

But I gotta tell you Infinit will be my drink on any training session over 1 hour from here on out.
