Subject: Trainer Help

An acquaintance of mine offered to sell me a slightly used trainer for $50. The trainer is a Saris Cycleops - Wind Trainer, Model #9202. Is anyone familiar with this model? Is it decent quality? What about the price? How does a wind trainer compare to a fluid trainer?

Also, what type of wear and tear does a trainer put on my tires? Do you need to use different tires on a trainer?

Thanks for your help.

I bought the wind trainer initially.. no complaints other than it was noisy. I can't remember but i think its magnetic.. you hear them as you pedal hard or soft. Cyclops makes good product.. i haven't any complaint's.. i now have a the fluid trainer. there are differences between the two.. you can get the same work out... $50 is a good price.. i think it retails for 150-200, and the fluid is 249-300..

If you use the trainer a lot, you will get a plateau on your tire..

before trainer \/ after trainer \_/

good buy, i'd get it

Thank you.

Noise isn't a concern as it would be placed in my basement.   How easy is it to continually switch the bike in and out of the trainer.  i.e. if I use the trainer on a rainy day, then two days later  bike outside.
