Subject: Private message alert
I received an email alerting me that I have a private message but when I log on and check there is no private message. I am certain I didn't delete it. Where did it go?

The person who sent it must have deleted it from their 'outbox' before you logged in to look.

Don't know if it's related to this or not...

But I tried PM'ing someone earlier today (Not the OP).  And the message does not show in either my outbox, nor sent box... it's like it never happened...

If you PM a lot, and your Sent Items is close to being full, it's possible that while you were composing your PM, someone read a message that was in your Outbox.  Then that message went into your Sent Items and filled it up, which prevents you from sending messages.  So when you finished writing and hit Send or Submit or whatever the button says, the message just disappeared.
