Subject: Flat question

I finished my first TRI and it was awsome. I survived the swim, figured i would beat my bike time but didn't? I rode the route the week prior and ended up 12 minutes slower? I had a slow leak in my rear tire. when I went to collect my bike after the run my tire was flat. which sucked. I did knock 4 minutes of my 5k so I was stoked on that. My question is how many of you have actually got a flat during the race let alone your first race?

Thanks

I hear you, I did my first sprint tri in '03. The bike I rec a flat within in the frist 2 miles.  Changed it and pinch my spare tube..  had to walk three miles before someone actually gave me their spare, but I had no more CO2 or pump, still dont carry a pump.  Had to walk another 2 miles before I saw someone just riding their bike and who was kind enough to allow me the use of their pump.

I was a bad experiance for me, but I was hooked on the whole tri thing.  Havent had a flat during a race since, and i am owning that to the fact that I now use slime in my tubes.  Yeah i adds 8oz to the bike, but Im pretty sure I wont notice..

I got lucky in my first tri, I went well in the bike with a good av speed but when I got back to transition after the run it was completely flat with a sharp stone sticking out, I assume it happened when running the bike back to transition...very lucky escape!

Hello

When I did my first 80 mile bike ride down in Gainesville, FL   10 miles into the ride the  front tire went flat from glass on the side of busy road.  I called it combat tire  changing in the hot sun.  I did 20 miles after that with 9 pounds of pressure in the front tire where I normally have 100.  Kind of like riding in sand for 20 miles.

Practice replacing a flat.
