So I ask my son Mark, do you have any advice for me on doing my first Tri in Aug, he say's if you see the guy in front catch him and if there is any body behind you do not let him/her catch you.
I had to laugh as this really is how he runs a race, as some of you have read on my posts in the past he just ran a duathlon, sprint tri and aquathon in may in Lanzarote, he placed 3rd in 2 of them and 10th in the other,

The best news is He gets into the US today(he lives and goes to College in Scotland) and we plan on training together for the next month i am so Excited have not set eyes on him for over 2 years.

Just wanted to share..

So happy

get to train with my boy woohoo.lol

that is the advice some of the pro's gave me at the last couple of races.

after the swim, catch someone fast on the bike, see if they are in your AG and if they are going at a solid race pace, follow them.

i did that in my last tri and managed a good bike and run split.

This is one of the key pieces of advice I give to my x-country runners.  One of the problems that often occurs with MOP x-country runners is that they forget they are in a race and just go into cruising mode.  Due to the nature of scoring in x-country, each position can be crucial so before every race we go over the idea that anyone in front is someone to catch and anyone that goes by is someone to chase for as long as possible.
