After seeing dozens and dozens of "critique my bike position" posts where clearly every seat was too high, I got fit for my bike this AM and found that my seat was too *low*. I know, I know, it seems impossible given the 100% track record for your-seat-is-too-high advice, but it's true nonetheless.

All joking aside, it was a neat experience and the tech actually did raise my seatpost almost 2", and shortened my stem from a 120 to a 75. The steering feels so weird now; it's either more nimble or more sketchy, I'm not sure which. He put some thingies in my shoes for my flat feets and told me I need to work on my IT band flexibility. I explained I hadn't been stretching it because I didn't know I even had an IT band until a few months ago. I also learned that despite being 6'1" he would have rather seen me on a 56" frame instead of a 58" because I apparently have a short torso and am stretching a bit to get to my bars. I guess these things happen when you're a newb and buy a used bike off Craigslist. Good to know for when I look for a proper TT bike in a season or two. By the time we finished up he told me "your legs look really good now" and I'm pretty sure he was talking about my body position and not trying to come on to another dude. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Averaged 24 mph on the ride home as opposed to my usual 19-20 and I'm sure the 15mph tail wind had nothing to do with it ;)

Just remember that even though you might be a 56cm frame in THAT particular model of bike that does not mean that any 56cm frame is going to fit you...every bike has different geometry.

I'm trying to figure out how you were riding with your seat 2" too low...

Thats why everyone suggests getting fit for your bike. With every bike fit purchase, you get 1 free tailwind. Too bad you used yours up already.
