Inspired by DMark Swan's efforts yesterday, I signed up today to volunteer at the Duke 1/2 IM in September.  I know a few BTer's are racing this year. I hope to race it next year and thought this would be a good way to scope it out and give back at the same time. When it gets closer let me know your race #'s and good luck in advance.

Volunteering can be pretty fun in its own way.  We all thank you.

Did you request any particular place to volunteer?  Directing out on the bike course can be a pretty quiet way to spend the morning.  I would imagine that being out on the run course could be amusing, especially if it gets hot.

I intend to be out there this year.  Once you find out where you'll be stationed, let us know so we can yell as we go by.

I said anyplace they need me. I'll be sure to find a way to identify myself. I know two BTers personally who are doing it.

Great! I've been a voly a Duke a couple of times and raced it a couple of times.

If you want to stay very busy and likely very hot, ask for run aid station 3. Everyone passes by there 6 times and it is at the top of a hill. At last year's race it was very hot and a lot of people needed help at that station. It would be hot work, and a lot of people get cranky by then, but you'll keep busy.

Other stations are just as fun and give you different perspectives.

Have fun!
