Subject: One more "New to Boston" Question: Triathlon Clubs?
I'm looking to join a Tri team/club. I'm a Clydesdale, I'm slow, and I've done 3 sprints. I want to get smaller, faster, work my way up to doing the 2010 RI 70.3. My fiancee is a BU student, and has done nothing yet, but she's in really good shape, a natural runner, and progressing on the bike and in the pool. She has the ultimate goal of that same 70.3, but we'd like to get her in a couple sprints and an olympic before then. She has the option of the BU team as she'll be a grad student, but I don't know if they'd let me (non-student) train with them, and I don't want to wind up training alone.

Anyone know any clubs/teams in the Boston area that would take on peeps like us? We'd love to find people local, but willing to drive a bit too.

Some local tri teams are

TriFury - north of Boston
Boston Triathlon Club
Cyclonuts - Springfield - west
Landry's - bike shop in Boston has a team.

Just a few off the top of my head.

ok one of the coaches for the BU team also leads lots of other training sessions through Boston Performance Coaching.  I am not yet part of a team but have trained with them, with BTT (Boston Triathlon Team) and with Team Psycho.

I teach for BU and live in Brookline very near BU.  I have joined the master's swim team, though have not gone too often.  You should definitely join the rec center - the memberships are reasonable and the pool if FANTASTIC. lots of triathlete on the master's team.

Across the street at Landry's is where BPC does their winter indoor cycling class - I have done it the last two years - runs November-April.  Vic and Ali lead it.  Awesome off season training with lots of smack talk....

If you come tomorrow I will chat with you about the team thing....

I am definitely joining fitrec. We talked to the manager the other day, and theyre letting me on the spouse+ plan 19 days early, with proof of the upcoming wedding.

We're be at the pond tomorrow but probably closer to 10 am.
