Total Time = 1h 18m 25s
Overall Rank = 179/400
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 9/19
Pre-race routine:

Got up early, about 4:30am. Had breakfast (a bagel) with my wife. I also drank a 2 oz shot of wheatgrass juice. Packed up and also helped her get ready for Katy Flatlands.
Event warmup:

Jogged about 1/2 mile, swam a few laps. No bike warm up.
Swim
  • 06m 25s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 08s / 100 meters
Comments:

Was a good swim. I gave the wrong swim time. I gave an 8 min time, should have been around 6.5 min. I passed 7 others in the pool.
What would you do differently?:

I wish I had given the correct time. I lost about 30 sec or more at the walls while making a pass.
Transition 1
  • 03m 12s
Comments:

I had to sit down to put my socks on my wet feet. My shirt also stuck to my back. T1 was too slow.
What would you do differently?:

Swim with shirt on.
Bike
  • 35m 36s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.91 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was very good. I had good speed and felt great. The turn around came up quik and I skidded my rear wheel to make a u-turn in the street.
What would you do differently?:

Even though I had a good bike race, I want to hammer faster on the bike and still have energy left for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

When I got to T1, my rack was empty. I was the first bike back (at least on my rack)!!
What would you do differently?:

I almst whipped out trying to do a ridding dismount. Need to practice.
Run
  • 30m 57s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I never seem to be able to run at a normal speed. I practice my bricks often (sometimes twice a week) and the brick distance is always longer than a race. I never get good race speed.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

As soon as T1 opened, Michael and I got our bikes and drove to a rest stop at the Katy Flatlands charity ride. We rode a fast 20 or so miles in a driving rain.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I really need to work on going faster. I can run faster than this and will keep trying.

Event comments:

This was an uneventful race. Nothing stood out. I was able to perform well. I think I had Katy Flatlands on my mind. Maybe I was thinking I needed to save energy for it. Over all it was a very good race.

I have no pics of this race. My photographer (wife) was doing the Katy Flatlands charity ride at the same time.
