I thought I'd share for those g-shock enthusiasts. I went to my parents house the other day and my dad had kept my first watch he ever gave me, a 1986 DW-5600 G-shock golden edition. It was out of batteries and the protective bizel that g-shock is so famous for was gone.

Removed the screw back and put in a replacement battery and it worked...time, date, light, and even alarm. Also, I used some straps from a newer g-shock I had until I find the original.

Going to build it back to the original specs if I can find the parts.

Here's a pic to bring back some memories...

I had one, loved the watch, in 1999 left at ex house and never got irt back... I missed that watch, I always wondered what happened with 2000 year since when you adjusted the calendar it would go up to 99 and then back to the 70's.

please set your at 11:59 of Dec 31 1999 and wait ojne minute, then post here what happened. Tongue out

Man, you lost about $250 if it was in good condition. I saw one on ebay with all original parts for about $250.

Regarding the year, either the developers thought of that already or they didn't think the watch would make it 15 years but there is no year for the date. Date format is dd-mm only.

So, no issues with y2k
