Subject: WTB - For free I cover shipping - anything bike parts wise
I have a friend who is doing his first tri. Poor and with second child on way he is NOT buying a bike but riding a Walmart bike.

If I can get enough stuff together I am going to try and build him up a bike. I can cover shipping but that is it. So if anyone has bike junk just laying around that you want to get rid of please let me know.

I also have a ton of MTB bike junk laying around so if you want to trade road junk for MTB junk I would be more than happy to do that as well.

My friend is 5'8" and over 200lbs so I need something in the 53-56cm range and full spoked wheels.

Thanks all - if you happen to have near or complete bikes I might be able to give you a few dollars.

as soon as I have a frame I will let you know about the derailure - obviously if hte frame uses a braze on then I will take it! thanks mucho!

I would try Craigslist.  For example, not sure what part of illinois you are from, but here's Chicago's link to craiglist's bike section.  You will see many cheap and used bikes and parts, some even for free.  http://chicago.craigslist.org/bik/

Like http://chicago.craigslist.org/bik/131977267.html a road bike for $55 or best offer.  Even if you didn't like the bike, you might be able to strip it for parts.

And you said you would pay for shipping so you can take that cost and just drive to buy these parts in town and spend the money there.
