Sorry for the pity party. I'm just kind of bummed. I had a lot of pain in my left leg about three weeks ago and set up an appt with my podiatrist/sports med guy. Today was my appt. I haven't run since March 5, three weeks. I was very hopeful that I would hear good news today. Well, I didn't

As the doc was mashing around and examining my shin, he found the pea-sized bump and said, "Oh WOW. Uh, ohm, man..." That's never a good thing. As he was dictating his notes, I heard, "possible stress fracture". Damm.

Monday I'm off to get a bone scan so we can be sure. The treatment is exactly what I've been doing, so that's the good news. I'm already 3 weeks into treatment. Here's the bad news. It could be 12 weeks recovery.

Add insult to injury, my bike is lame too. Bent chain ring and it's very possible that it can't be fixed. While I'd really like to buy a fancy tri bike, it's just not in the budget. If this bike is toast, I have no idea what I'm going to do.

There you have it. My sad tale.

Pattie

Sorry to hear! On the bright side, you can still swim! ....just trying to help....not sure if it did...

Hang in there, I know how annoying and frustrating injuries can be. I hope you have a quick recovery and I hope the bike can be repaired (or replaced) w/in your budget.

Swim a lot. It's good that you got it dx-ed and that you're taking care of it in a sensible manner. i ran a marathon with mine, and the aftermath wasn't pretty.

Wow, definitely lousy news.  But - good for you for getting it taken care of now instead of waiting and having it potentially be much worse...
