Subject: Specialized Transition Comp vs other $1800 bikes
Hi,

I am thinking of buying my first tri specific bike. I have been fitted and have been told that the Specialized Transition would be a good fit. I also think that the Quintana Roo Kilo would work well. Does anyone have any opinions on the pros and cons of either of these bikes? Also, if there are other suggestions of bikes in the $1800 price region I would be interested in hearing them.

Thanks in advance!
Andrew

I just bought a closeout '05 model (which is spec'ed slightly better than the '06 Expert model) and love it. You basically get all good stuff for a decent price. Of course everyone is going to scream "Cervelo" since that's the hot product right now, but you can't go wrong with the Transition.

Here's me spinning away on mine ........ and I've tweaked my position some since then.

The Transitions have a very aero frame. They are a stiff ride but also put the power down because of it. I think the base model is a best buy. You can always upgrade to full Ultegra or DA down the road if you like. I road my Elite for a season and loved it enough to convert it to all Dura Ace and add better wheels. But is wasn't lacking as it came from the store either.

A lot of great bikes out there. Check out what you actually get for parts on each bike.
Specialized was a better deal on last year's models compared to this year from what I see.
