Subject: RE: Bottles behind the seat… I've used the Seat Post Thing (SPT ) for years along with Profile cages. I know a lot of people complain about the profile cages launching bottles, but I've not had that problem. The profile cages use a thin o-ring to provide tension on the bottle, but I take a thick rubberband, double it up and put it on there in addition to the o-ring. It clamps the bottle much tighter. I've never had a problem getting bottles out, or back in, but they are snug.
I have to replace the rubberbands every few weeks, especially in the summer. As a race precaution I replace them the day before the race.
The SPT keeps the bottles upright more then most behind the seat carriers, which might help as well.
