Sad all around, for the loved ones of the deceased most of all.

I'm glad this law is actually being used to prosecute, though. I hope in a climate of stricter driving laws, cyclists might benefit, too.

I'm glad they prosecuted too.  Although 2 years seems pretty lenient for vehicular homicide.

I'm glad they prosecuted too.  Although 2 years seems pretty lenient for vehicular homicide.

Two years, but I think it's actually one year each for two different criminal counts, and he can serve them concurrently.

So it's one year's prison time for a willful act of negligence that directly caused someone's death. Pretty lenient, indeed. Honestly, a year's prison time seems more appropriate for what happened to the victim's girlfriend who was injured in the accident.

License suspended for 15 years sounds pretty good to me.

He was 17 at the time it happened so maybe the sentence was under juvenile laws?
