Hey Everybody! Found the page via google and was so inspired by the stories from other newbies; with their experiences I had to join. Adolescence through college in Salt Lake City, I destroyed my body in the mountains. Age and injuries caught up to me, I accepted pain preventing my cardio. Lifting, I put on a massive amount of weight, especially after injuries, this time it wasn't coming off easy. The corporate grind caught up, knees can no longer handle running. Formerly a mtn. biker I convinced myself I need to ride again. Got the bike tuned and knocked out 10 miles on the first ride in 4+ years. Last year I beat my fear of swimming from a kid trying to drown me in the 4th grade. Now I swim 3-4 days for an hour and ride 10-20 miles on a mtn. bike. Setting goals to buy a training road bike, then to the bad boy triathalon bike. If I can beat fear, broken ankles, torn menisci/ACL, and a slipped disc, I can beat a bike, the economy, and a silly reservoir. What's 107 miles??? Looking forward to training and catching up to yall while hearing your inspirational stories along the way. I've got 9 months to get to the half AB, and over one year to get to the full. This is our life right? No more taking it sitting down!!!  Wink

Hi, I did the Vineman aquabike in 2011. The swim was fast and relatively ez. The 2 loops on the bike, weelllll. Make sure your bike is geared for some hills. "White Chalk Hill' will require a granny gear. I didn't have one, and you need to go up it twice! Almost broke me! The lowest gear I had was a 39 up front and a 25 in back. bad move. lol And I made that mistake again with my new bike in the Riverside Citrus Century! 52 miles of climbs and I didn't have a granny gear to keep the spinning up. Latic acid build up hurt hurt hurt. Live and learn. i-m Tempe Arizona finisher 2011.

Thanks for the tip. I have a calf issue I'm currently working through so the granny gear will be necessary. I'm looking forward to being able to do a 2.5 swim 56 bike next fall and not come in last... Full Vineman Aqua bike is the dream target for 2014. Swim didn't sound bad but I've never done a century ride in my life.

Thanks for the welcome, I have experience, just not in endurance sports. Looking forwward to the challenge!
