Total Time = 1h 04m 15s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 12/31
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 0430 after tossing & turning for an hour. Showered to wake up, got dressed, ate a banana and drank some water. Tried to eat a bagel, but couldn't stomach it due to nerves.
Event warmup:

No warm up other than walking around lake to the swim start and pre-race meeting.
Swim
  • 10m 41s
  • 402 meters
  • 02m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

I purposely moved out into the lake to avoid being tempted to "walk" the swim. Tried to stick with freestyle, but mixed it with breaststroke & "modified" freestyle. Legs felt like lead coming out of the water and breathing was WAY too fast.
What would you do differently?:

Build up swim endurance... still relatively new to swimming in this aspect.
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

Overall good. Gulped down a GU in transition followed by a couple of gulps of water to wash it down. Put shoes & helmet on, and ran to the bike exit.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to learn to put the shoes on while on the bike. That would save time and the awkwardness of running in the shoes.
Bike
  • 27m 40s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.69 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode harder than I probably should've for this race, but felt really good until the GU I ate in T1 caught up to me. Spent most of the ride with my tummy rolling in nausea and hoping I wouldn't have to find out how hard it is to puke on the bike. Bonked hard the last mile, too, and am not sure why.

**The bike was advertised as 10mi, but my bike computer registered 8.49mi.
What would you do differently?:

Don't eat GU in T1. Also, maybe slow back a bit to save more for the run...
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Legs felt rubbery coming off the bike, but was good by the time I got to the run exit.
What would you do differently?:

Need speed laces for my running shoes.
Run
  • 22m 28s
  • 2 miles
  • 11m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Pushed a bit too hard on the bike and was still very nauseous from the GU mishap, but I was able to continue moving, albeit at a shuffle. No walking, so I consider that a pro. Finished strong as DH was yelling, "Don't let them pass you at the finish!!!", so I didn't. :)
What would you do differently?:

Just need to increase my run mileage/endurance.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around with the family, and cheered on other members of our group.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am only 3 weeks into this season's training, started late, so I think that limited me. However, I did better in this race than I anticipated, so I'm very happy with my results.

Event comments:

This is a very enjoyable race. We will be back next year, and hopefully our 11yo will join us in the race.

Great job!  Impressive for only 3 weeks of training preparation.

I was nice meeting you guys today.  Not only my first tri, and my first OWS, but also my first face-to-face meeting with other BT members.

Yeah, you should get you some speed laces.
