adding a new route

Let me try!

When I hit the add route button a new window will open and the map is located on the center to right of the screen, different buttons (undo, out & back, etc) are on the top and distance, climbing on a column on the left.  I start mapping my route by clicking on the roads and at some point after adding a segment to my route the screen will go out of format and the distance, climbing column will take most of the screen. I can still see the map and continue adding my route on a small portion of the screen, but when I am done and hit the save route button the route isn’t there…
