Ok, I need some good juju this weekend, specifically Sunday morning. I need you all to send me some mental love sometime on Sunday morning between 7am and 12pm central time (you can focus around 11am or so if you need some direction). I'm definitely pushing my ability here and surely limited by my size and lifestyle, so will need all the help I can get.

Oddly, I have more doubt here than I ever did for the 1/2 IM (which was none). But this seems to be a tighter line for me and this week affected my confidence as I haven't felt well at all.

I want to thank you all for keeping me interested in this sport. I wonder if without BT I would still be working towards my ultimate goal of an IM. Maybe. I do know that you all have made the work (inconsistent though it may have been at times) a lot more palatable. The people to talk with, joke with and create relationships with, as well as simply seeing other people who are working on their own athletic goals has been a true gift. Thanks Ron and thank you all.

Now, predictions:

Aaron's arm would be too muscle-y - you need to find someone fatter than him and slower than you so you can catch them as they go by.

Thanks for the good juju Aaron.

Okay, what if after I finish I find you on the course and pace you in the rest of the way?  Would that get you to stop hating me?

Hell no!!!!

At mile 18 the last thing I'm gonna want to see is you smiling and fresh after running 26, + the 8 miles back to me, and then watching you run the next 8 miles with impatient looks over your shoulder at the aid stations when I've walked for more than 30 seconds punctuated by you yelling to the people you see: "Na, I finished 2 hours ago! I just ran back to pace in fat boy!"

And I don't hate you Aaron - I'm sure your fatism was meant only in the nicest possible way.

Thanks anyway.

I know - the scary thing is you would do it. Gives me chills.... you are a freak.

I'm not completely sure - we've got a crew of folks headed up between 1 and 2, and we're gonna drop off the non runners and head over to the expo hopefully between 4-6. I'll PM you my cell....

Thomas, what is your plan for this marathon? Run/walk?

I am mentally breaking the marathon down to about 5 mile increments (~ 1 hour each) with 1 minute walk breaks every 20 minutes or so (or walking the aid stations). At about the 2 hour mark, I'll walk 2 minutes.

As long as my ankle isn't hurting me too bad, I'll probably do it anyway; just without the fun of getting to taunt you at the same time.    If the weather ends up being bad, I'm treating the whole thing as one big mental training day.

I LOVE IT!!! Thats so great. Aaron, after you finish, just start the whole thing over and catch up with Welshy that way. What else do you have to do that day?

Aaron - your first post made me laugh out loud.  Great motivational stuff.  I also think you should go for a double Aaron and see if you can lap him.

Best of Luck Welshy.  If nothing else keeps you going, the thought of the ridicule you would suffer here in COJ if you don't finish ought to do it!

 Blue Skies!

Barring injury, I'll finish - it's just a matter of in how long...

Renee - I'm planning on walking the aid stations - my guess is that since my longest run is 16 miles, at about 18 I'll be in some trouble, push through it/walk-run until about 22 and then have to pull off some magical feat of inner strength to get across the finish line. That's my epic plan - finish time I hope in under 6 hours.

I picked the hopping option on the poll, just because I like to picture you hopping......in a lavendar bunny suit.  HAVE FUN!

Heh, we have similar plans! My longest run was 19 miles, so I figure by mile 22 I will be hurting. I'll have Max-a-million to get me moving, tapping my inner strength to get me through the last 6 miles. I'm hoping for ~ 6 hour run (poor Max).

Good luck, Thomas! Do well and may the force be with you!
