I have to say the same thing goes for bikers! I was passed quite a few times today on my bike (was I going that slow???) and not one of them said "hello" or "on your left" or "how's it going." Nothing!? When I passed people I would kind of give a wave or nod my head and say hi. Maybe I'm too nice. I'm not saying hello anymore.

I usually acknowledge people as I pass them out of courtesey, especially when passing from behind. I hate it when people go flying by from behind and you neverknew they were there untill they are gone. drivesme nuts!

On a bike, that's just bad manners to pass someone and not give them fair warning that you're coming up behind them. But then again, it's not like people have manner too often anymore anyway. Just keep saying hello. Just because cockroaches have better manners than some people, doesn't mean that you give up all hope. HELLO DARNIT! I"M SAYING HELLO!! CAN'T YOU HEAR ME???

Hey Lisa, don't stop being nice to others; you can't be too nice. I always wave and say "Hi" when I cross paths with others cyclists/runners.

Sometimes you don't want acknowledgment!

I was riding on a trail one day (paved trail, about as wide as a one lane road) when this guy behind me starts yelling at me to slow down. At first, I ignored him because it wasn't like I was going at some breakneck, dangerous speed. But he was so insistent that finally I figured something must be wrong. So I slowed down a little, he rode past me saying "Sorry, I only have one gear." HUH?! A couple minutes later, I had to pass him back!
