Subject: RE: WinningThat's awesome, congrats. Speaking of marathons, the Ottawa ING Marathon was on CBC today (followed by some track events ). There were basically 2 packs of elites, the first pack had all the Kenyans, Ethiopians, the second pack was all the white Canadian guys.
A new woman's record was set for that event, she did 2:28. I didn't know this, but elite marathoners get their own special water bottle table, it looks like there are about 3 tables (at the 10, 20 and 30 k ). At the first table, the woman winner had so much trouble finding her bottle, she had to stop to find it. Then at the next table, she looked for it but couldn't find it. But she still broke the record.
As for the men's race, the male winner took his 3rd victory in as many years. When asked what his strategy was, he said, "My goal was to stay with the lead pack, and then wait until the last 200 meters and make a move if I had to." (or something like that ). |
