For those of you who are not from the great state of Illinois I decided I bring this to the table and see if this has even been done before.

Well Lake Zurich Triathlon moved to the next town to the north and became the Bangs Lake triathlon. Lake owners who wanted too much money decided they would still put on a triathlon in Lake Zurich called the Lake County triathlon of Lake Zurich who is using the same course as the Lake Zurich triathlon used.

People in my running club mentioned that the Lake Zurich tri bike course used to go into the town where the bang lake tri is being held. Today I learnt that both will be sharing the road for some distance. Good news for both races is they will be going the opposite directions but I wonder if this has ever happened before. Has 2 races shared a race course? I wonder if USAT knew this when they sanctioned both races.

if you want to see the bike courses

looks like we share about 1.75 miles and both races are double loops for a total of 3.5 miles.

No idea to the answer but, talk about a p!$$ing match between the two groups.  Should be interesting to see what happens next year.

sad thing is the area might not have a tri after this year because racers being split might make it too costly for either side.

last year the lz tri had 605 groups finish both races on a bad stormy day. (rain stopped and the race went off without any more rain).

This year the bangslake only has 368 peeople registried. Its more than the people who finish the oly last year but less people in the race.

It also answers the age old question which is more important loyality to a race or location?
