Subject: OWS in lake?

Does anybody know where it is feasible to do OWS in a lake in SC, preferably in central SC?  (By feasible I mean: legal, not TOO many drunk boaters, not TOO many poisonous snakes.)

There is a park on the Lexington Side of the dam @ Lake Murray.  There is a sandy beach area and the swimming area is buoyed off.  You can swim along the outer buoyes without too much fear of boats or snakes!

We go to Lake Greenwood a lot..... maybe others have experience doing OWS's there but I have had no problems so far going in the water.

f you swim in the cove swimming area at Mansfield Dam Park, the total distance is right at a 1/4 mile, all the way around, and most of it can be very near the shore. There is one stretch, swimming next to the buoys where you're in open water for about 100 yards, but it isn't that bad, and there are no weird currents. Great place to practice your open water swimming.
