Subject: I need a recommendation for a foot doctor in the Chicagoland area
I'm having some major issues with my feet and am looking for a recommendation for a foot doctor in the area. I prefer a doctor that has some sports medicine background and experience with running injuries of the feet. I live in the western suburbs (Riverside), but I would be willing to travel, if the recommendation came with high regards. I have a bad case of, what I believe to be, plantar fasciitis on my left foot...and a seperate toe-numbing issue on my right foot. I need to do something now, before these problems get any worse than they already are. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance...so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for any help!

Linda

I went to Dr. Chin at Windy City Foot and Ankle.  He has a location in both downtown Chicago and Skokie (not close to you, but I'm not sure where you work).  He got me into custom orthodics which have really helped with my leg and foot issues, as well as teaching me new stretches and strengthening exercises.  Take a look at his website

www.windycityfootandankle.com

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield as well and only had to pay the co-payment.  The orthodics were covered.

There are a ton of great sports med docs and podiatrists in the western burbs.  And with BCBS insurance, you will be able to go anywhere.  I am a sports med doc in the far western burbs at Central DuPage Hospital, but I have a lot of friends much closer to you.  Neeru Jayanthi at Loyola is great.  Kathy Weber at Rush is great.  Ketan Mody at Hinsdale Ortho is great.  There are tons more as well.  You have to be good to practice sports medicine in Chicago as it is a very competitive market.  You could always swing by and see me in Naperville or St. Charles, but I don't think you would have to travel that far for great care.  Hope that helps.

Thank you both, for the recommendations!! I'm actually out in the Naperville area fairly often, so stopping by to see you wouldn't really be out of the question.

I went to a podiatrist in LaGrange, right on Willow Springs Rd.  He cleared up my issue in 5 minutes that 10 weeks of PT couldn't fix.  Dr. Steven Murphy, (708) 588-0250.  He's a runner and is genuinely concerned about his patients.  He even makes follow-up calls.
