I'm curious as to what people do the morning of the race in terms of warming up, stretching, etc. I have doing my first sprint tri tomorrow and just want to hear others thoughts. I am most interested in hearing from a sprint standpoint.

Here is my plan (my wave starts at 7:30):

Wake up at 4:30 and eat a light breakfast- fruit, bagel, gatorade.

Head to race site at 6:00, transition area opens at 6:15. But I figured I could take a nice walk before it opens to take in the nice summer air (race site is only about 5 minutes from my house)

Set up transition area, get body marked.

Then what? Do I go for a jog? Just stretch? I was contemplating going for a short swim but I am afraid that the air temp will be abit chilly (I live in Wisconsin) so I dont want to be shivering the whole time until the race.

What does everyone else do in the hour leading up to the race?

The shorter the race, the longer the warm up.

For a sprint, I would set up my transition area and then go for about a 20' ride.  I make sure that I run through ALL of my gears.  If I have time, a little job (this usually never happens).  Then walk over to the swim start.  I do about a 200 warm up to test out my goggles/sighting and then go all out.

I try to setup transition as soon as I get there to get the best spot possible. Then ride for about 15 minutes to warm up the legs and make sure all is well with my bike. Then run about a mile at a very leasurely pace. I run the first half mile of the run course and circle around and come back through the finish area so I know exactly where I am going. About 10 minutes before the race I hop in the water and swim a few hundred yards.

I do a reverse tri warm up.

I'll run for about 10' with some pick ups; then ride 10' with some pick ups; reset my transition area; if I can swim before my wave goes off, I get in the water, get one with the water, make sure my goggles are okay and get to my wave about 5-7' before it goes off..perfect warm up.

This is your first, enjoy it is most important thing....have fun!

If possible, I go for a short swim.  I find that I swim faster with less effort after a 5-10 minute warm-up with some pickups.
