I been using an 8 week sprint training program over the last month.  Due to time and partly due to the durations of certain workouts I fount myself cutting back the time by about 25 %.  The plan has me working out from 6 to 7.5 hours per week (2 workouts per day 3x per week).  The runs especially have been difficult.  Prior to this program I was just running a mile or so just to warm up for martial arts.  Now the program has me running 3x per week, up 60 min per run.

I guess is it OK to cut back a program?  I want to be ready for my sprint but I am finding the current schedule a little difficult.

Well, its hard to tell without having a training log to look at and without knowing the distances of the tri you plan to do.

My only advice is that you get out what you put in.  There aren't any shortcuts in training.

I am sure you can do less and still get through the event.  If running is your weaker event, you may find yourself walking some.  For most people, more training = better prepared on race day = better performance.   Just know there is a tradeoff when you cut your workouts short.

If you find the schedule difficult, back off.  You may not have the fitness level assumed by the author of the plan.  Running, in particular, should be built up very gradually.

X2

There are those who dream of doing something and there those who actually work to make their dreams a reality. Which are you? Only you can decide how well you want to do and put forth the required effort to reach your goals.
