If a person submits a new race, why doesn't it show up in the search?

To prevent incomplete and incorrect entries in the database from being displayed to the general public.

We get a fair amount of incorrect information entered into the Race Nexus. So much so, that before we added a step to validate the data before making entries public-facing, the amount of email we'd receive to correct even minor points was overwhelming. A wiki model of anyone being able to edit the information didn't help. We'd still get the email.

All entries are still available to be searched/added to your race list. It's just in the initial public search that races need to be validated.

We are doing something about this. We're creating a Race Director account type so that RD's can enter race information that will bypass the validation stage. They'll also be able to take ownership of an entry and edit any information about their races.  This should go a long way towards eliminating or at least reducing dramatically the time it takes to get a race accurately displayed. It's a safe bet that RD's are pretty interested in getting this information listed correctly.

right, ok, so- I searched for, and didn't find a Race-- so I added it. Do I then need to go back and search for it at some point (when?) in order to add it to my log/race schedule? How are we to know when a race is validated?  It just so happens I think I might want to race again, and I am jonesin' to see it up there on my blog!

thx, mikey-poo.

We're working on a solution for this.  It appears since more people are using the public 'races' button to find races that it is bypassing the other way to add a race that prevents duplication.

Technically if you use the little race icon in your log or go to your race log then 'add race' it works as it should and you will be able to add races that have already entered and have other race reports attached.
