Subject: W Michigan -1st tri planned in Aug-Looking for easier swim tri's
I've been using BT for almost 1 year and thought it was time to introduce myself.  I am a 42 year old female starting my 2nd year of duathlons and planning to do my first tri this year.  I am just learning how to swim and haven't been in open water yet.   Hoping to get out and give it a "tri" in a couple of weeks. 

I am planning to do the Freemont Tri for Fun since the swim is only 300m. Has anyone else done that race?  Any suggestions for other "beginner swim" tri's?   I am considering Aquaman in TR as my 2nd.

Welcome to the site.  I'm new here as well.  You might want to consider the Millennium Park Tri on August 8.  It's only a 500m swim, 14.8 mile bike and 5k run.  I'm registered for that one as well as Tri Del Sol in Middleville.

Where are you from in W. Michigan?  I was just looking through your logs and assumed Grand haven or Spring Lake.  I am in Norton Shores near Black Lake. 

I would also recommend the Millenium in GR.  It got good reviews the first year and the swim is rather short.  Good luck!

Welcome to BT.  Capri sports (the group that puts on Steelhead) puts on a sprint around July 4th in Benton Harbor.  I haven't done the sprint, but I'll be doing Steelhead again this year.  If nothing else, come down and volunteer at Steelhead.
