Subject: RE: Newbie...needs training advice!Hey thanks everyone. I was doing boot camp 3 x per week and then running, swimming and biking three times a week. So far my "max" has been running 3 miles (I can run non stop ), biking 9-10 miles, and swimming 300 meters. I stopped boot camp a week ago and am now focusing more on the triathlon training and will still incorporate strength training 2x per week as well. So far, here's what 8 weeks from race (count down ) calls for (this week ): Monday-off Tuesday- S:300 yards + Run 20 minutes Wednesday: Bike 8 miles Thursday: Swim 300 yards + walk 30 minutes Friday: Off Saturday: Run 40 minutes Sunday: Bike 10 miles Up to the race, 2 weeks remaining, here's what the newbie triathlon schedule shows: Monday: off Tuesday: S-600 yards + Run 30 minutes Wednesday: Bike 15 miles Thursday: S: 600 yards + 45 minute walk Friday: off Saturday: Run 60 min Sunday: B: 20 M +Walk 30 minutes Week of the race, it tapers down a bit but similar in structure (500 yard swim on Monday, etc. ) Jessica (sorry I used my nickname and spelled it like a male ) Again, the triathlon is: 500 meter swim, 15 mile bike and 5K run
Thanks for your time & help!! I'm just wondering if the newbie schedule (posted above) will be sufficient or if I should increase my distance or time like the Olympic plan shows??Edited by jydmorrison 2009-06-23 11:36 AM
