Subject: Best workout ever! Today was my first day of training for a half IM in October. Yes, I am doing races along the way, but 1/2 IM will be the longest.
2500m swim, 40 minute run (~5 miles ), bricked.
I have never swam this far in my life, and HATE swimming, but this actually was ok! At one point I even thought, "This is what a fish must feel like." [A very slow fish at that]. I could not do the whole thing freestyle, but was not expecting to. Half of it freestyle was good enough for me. This might not be a big deal to those big dogs on this site, but it's a huge deal to me! I know my times will come down, I just need to take more lessons than the 2 months I had when I was 14 years old.
The run also felt great. It's the first time I've been able to run more than 2 miles consecutively since October due to an injury. I don't know what happened, but I was a machine today and it felt great!!
I know the hardest part of the training plan I am following is keeping the RPE low as suggested instead of going balls to the wall, which is what I typically do during each training session.
Short version: I am hungry for October!! |
