Subject: Masters swim program
Hello All,
I am playing with the idea of joining a masters swim program (or at least checking it out) and could use some recommendations. I am not very fast and to be honest, I am a bit intimidated by it all. I suppose my biggest worry is that I won't be able to keep up or will hold others up. I assume that the atmosphere of certain programs are more competitive then others.
If anyone has any suggestions on which ones to check out, I would be very greatful.
I live in Highlands Ranch but work in Denver so I am somewhat flexible about location.
Thanks!
Kathleen

I'm also in HR, and I've had the same idea, but MHM/Matt Beck's program looks a little more competitive than I have the time to commit.

I know there's a tri- oriented swim @ Northridge, and the pace doesn't appear too excessive, and the group size (2-3 per lane) seems reasonable.  There's usually fliers on the wall and copies of the workouts (not sure which program) are available near the locker room doors; you could try 'sampling' those...

A friend also in HR did one of the HRCA tri programs and really liked it.  I think they meet weekly, and you get self-directed workouts on a regualr basis.

Thanks Steve,
I will check out the HR info on line to see what they have to offer. I might put this idea on the back burner until fall or winter when I really need some motivation to get into the water.

The Northridge Rec Center has a Tri Masters program.  I think it meets on Tue/Thu/Fri.  I've never been to it but I've heard it's a good one.

Like the others have said, check out the HRCA website for the info.

We have a great group onn Tues and Thurs mornings(0545-0700).  This time of year we swim in the outdoor pool.  Admittedly I slack off during the summer for outdoor.

There are several lanes to pick from based on ability.  The far left lane is the super fast, and then it mellows out as you go down.

After labor day, Susan Williams will be back coaching.

Definitely a good Tri group that shows up.

Hope to see you there.
