am about to embark on starting to train for a triathlon. at present i can cycle 10 miles with no real strain, and i regularly run 15 - 20miles a week. swimming is an area which is developing slowly!! have been looking at the programmes on the website, however, they seem to be too hard or too easy, can anyone recommend a programme that will suit my present actvivity level?
There are a set of plans that are either swim, bike or run focused. The idea is you identify your weakest leg (swimming I guess in your case), and pick the plan that focuses on that sport. Have you seen those?
Wow. You have good running base, and some biking and no swimming. That would likely require some customization. Is your first race an oly or a sprint?
A few simple things to do is to get 'caught up' in swimming by picking a program corresponding to your first triathlon length, start the swimming part at a week you know you can do. Just 'hold' the other two sports until the swim 'catches up', then follow the program from then on out in all 3 sports.
i agree swimming is the area i need to improve on, in training for a sprint (probably more achievable than a olympic at present). will have a look at the programmes again. if you can recommend any, that wouyld be cool
Can you manage through week one of the 12 week beginner sprint? If so, try to go with that. And if you don't want to do the 'spinning' or interval workouts for the bike, just do the minutes for the bike and run (it seems you can).
