Woke up at 4:45AM and loaded last minute items into Franks Truck. Frank stopped me at Fukin Gonuts and had a cream rich coffee. Drove over to Longleaf and rode a 10 minute warm up on the bike (chilly)!!!

Nailed my first Hammergel at approx 6:00AM

10 minute ride with Frank down the famous "Starkey" road.

Comments:

Shava Wava, Stihl and Mari were waving me on so I waved back and lost some concentration in this T.

Asics were too tight with the speed laces and caused a tough start with numb feet.

COncentrate more

Comments:

Started out with 2 cramps. Was able to work through them pretty well and managed to improve my food deficiency for the day. I shouda eaten more!!!! I shouda listen to Frank and had some Protien drink instead of relying on Carbs (gels) all day. I will improve.
What would you do differently?:

Prepare the shoes better for a easier donning and fit.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran across the finish line and hugged my wife and kids, gave Frank a hug and some Hi 5's and sat my fat ass down on the most awesome and peaceful park I have been at in a long time.

Enjoyed the warm down with some drinks (H2O and Diet COke).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

5 days of frikken rest, not enough food prior and during race,

Event comments:

Race #42

Excellent Volunteer staff, organization and post race activity. Had a few issues with the swim orientation, could have been better. I did not find out about 2 loops until 5 minutes from start.

Also, rode in a bit of traffic. The roads were not "closed" and traffic was allowed to move. Police was at 2 intersections.

Would have preferred a better bike course (away from the trail), a course MAP posted on the web site.

Other than that, it was a GREAT Race. I will return with Frank and Fam next year.

One final note, AGAIN, I would like to thank my bud Frank C for HELPING me get this far. Without his help, inspiration and company, I would SUCK even more. He is the reason why I have been able to do this Oly in just 15 weeks of being a triathlete. Cudos to you bro- Thanks for the good times!!! He also rocks for kicking ass!!!

Course: Weired but nice. Started on Starkey Blvd for about 4 miles and then wandered off onto a bike path. Bike path was wide enough to get speed, but had many curves and turns. At 2 points the course thins out and it becomes a no passing zone. Overall, the course was nice and thanks to Frank and Co. and our SUnday 55 mi rides, I was able to perform somewhat.

WTF!!!  We were both at the race!!  What do you look like?  I am sure we must have seen each other, it was so small. And please tell me you KNOW it was 2100 yards!!  Please!!!  Cuz I knew it was long, just didn't know how long.  I was wearing braided pig tails...did you see me?

Hi Jessica.

I was talking to my bud about how we must communicate better amongst BTrs because I wonder how many friends we missed not knowing each other. Sorry I didn't get to meet you.

I had a Litespeed Blade with yellow Mavic wheels. I was wearing a DeSoto trisuit white top/ black shorts. I placed 4 of 4 in the 39 and under class. I think you may have been wearing a black body suit- 1 piece? If that is so please confirm cause I remember the pig tails. I apologize that we were not able to meet. I think we crossed on the run path.

My next race is Miamiman Oly in November. It will be my second Oly. Are you doing it? I know Sue, from BT will be doing the race also.

Thanks for the message and I look forward to meeting you and talking to you again.

Regards,
Bill
